Tile & Grout Cleaning Longport, NJ 08403
The before and after pictures you see in this article are of a tile floor that was submerged in water in Longport, NJ 08403 from hurricane sandy. The kitchen is the white tile, all cabinets and appliances were ruined. We also cleaned the tiles in their garage which are a unsealed Mexican tile. We were contacted by a local contractor to see if we could take care of this job, and as you can see by the pictures it came out great.
When it comes to cleaning tile & grout you need to look at the perimeters of the room, that is where you will see a color difference. If your grout is darker in the center of the room then Extreme Floor Care can professionally clean it. If you have a ceramic tile that looks off color it also needs to be professionally cleaned. Now if you are one of the many people that went with tile that has a texture to it or pitting and you are seeing black in the pits, this is very common and trust me, people notice it.  When you clean a tile floor you work from one side of the room to the other. What happens is you start to move dirty water around and that water settles into those pits or your grout. There is no way from stopping this from occurring, the solution to this is to have Extreme Floor Care come in every couple of years to clean & seal your tile & grout.  When you have your tile installed 9 out of 10 times your grout is not sealed because the grout has to cure before sealing. The grout then acts like a  sponge and that dirty water sinks into your grout. The way to stop this from happening is to have your grout sealed, and the sealer will last for a couple of years. The way I explain this to clients is, if you spill a cup of coffee on your counter you can just wipe it up, but if you spill it on your tile and grout it will sit on the tile but if the grout is not sealed it will act like a sponge and seep into the grout.
This is a reality with a tile floor, you or your cleaning lady aren't doing anything wrong, it just needs to be maintained with a professional cleaning by Extreme Floor Care every now and then. When you hire Extreme Floor Care to come in and clean your tile and grout, that is when you should have your grout sealed. There are some circumstances where I don't recommend sealing the grout and that is when you have small tiles and tiny grout lines, it just isn't cost effective. Today, with all the new and beautiful options of tile out there, most are going with the larger tiles. One of the tiles that I see in a lot of homes is the textured tile, which I happen to love, but once you live with it the pitting will get black. Getting the grout sealed the dirty water then sits on top of the grout and the grout no longer acts like a sponge, unfortunately you can't stop the pitting from getting the settlement of the dirty water. In cases like this just have your tile and grout cleaned professionally by Extreme Floor Care every couple of years and it will look like new again.
