Staining and refinishing a wood staircase Avalon, NJ 08202
This client got our name from Angie's List and I met them at the new home they just purchased to give them a proposal to install a new hardwood floor in their family room, formal living room, formal dining room, office, hallway and in their sitting room in their master bedroom. We are also going to install new retreads on their stairs and stain a custom color on the treads, bannisters and balusters. The home owner replaced all the bannisters and balusters and the steps were a pine wood so we installed red oak retreads to match the rest of the stair case. Once everything was in place we got together with the home owner and picked a stain color and what type of finish they wanted. First we sanded everything so it was ready to stain, then applied the stain and it also got 2 coats of polyurethane. The steps were finished with a satin polyurethane and the railing system was coated in a semi gloss polyurethane. The risers on this staircase will be painted white and the spindles will also be white. As you can see from the before and after the staircase makes a beautiful statement!
We met at the home to take all the measurements and go over different ideas of what they were looking for. After our meeting I sent the client to Coast Tile and Marble Supply on Fire Road in Egg Harbor Township to choose the wood they would like installed. They chose a beautiful Mirage floor that was a Maple 3/4 inch with a charcoal finish. The clients were also having tile installed from the front door back through the kitchen into the eating area.
The floor was delivered to the home the week prior to us installing the floor so it could acclimate to the homes environment. When we started the install we first installed a vapor barrier then started installing the hardwood floor. As you can see from the pictures the install came out beautiful and the clients were thrilled with the job. We were in constant contact with the client and met them at Coast Tile and Marble to make sure everything matched well and all products that we needed were ordered.
You will see in all of these pictures their red oak staircase came out beautiful. This job came out great and our client was very happy with the outcome.
