Stone Harbor,NJ 08247 hardwood floor refinishing, this is showing you the process of the hardwood floor being refinished to raw wood, which needs to happen before we can start coating.
This is a hardwood floor refinishing project that a contractor brought us in on in Stone Harbor,NJ 08247.  They were completely redoing the kitchen and where the cabinets were originally the floors were not refinished. They were changing where all the cabinets and island were going so all the hardwood floors needed to be refinished. This project is going to be done in 3 stages. We were brought in to refinish all the hardwood on the 3rd floor. Once the kitchen is done we are going back in to do the hardwood floor refinishing on 2 staircases and the 2nd floor. This floor that you see is a red oak that is 3/4 inch thick by 3  1/4 wide.  When we did the hardwood floor refinishing we sanded the floor 3 times then applied a natural seal coat and 2 coats of 100% oil based satin polyurethane. As you can the hardwood floor refinishing came out beautiful.
There are different kinds of polyurethane on the market today, you have water based polyurethane, which I will use on a maple floor, I don't think the water base adds any beauty to an oak floor. Some contractors out there only use water base polyurethane because it gets them in and out of your job faster. The other polyurethane is a poly blend, this is the kind you can buy at big box stores or hardware stores, the problem I have with this polyurethane is the odor lingers in your house for a long time. The polyurethane that we use is a 100% oil based polyurethane, a far superior product to poly blend and the smell is gone with in a couple of days.
